Platform Guidelines

Lumo Rideshare Inc. ("Lumo") operates a digital platform that connects independent drivers with riders seeking transportation services. The following guidelines outline how the platform functions and the expectations for all users.
A.Platform-Based Pricing Model
Trip pricing on Lumo is dynamically generated through the app using multiple factors, including travel time, distance, and current demand conditions.
From time to time, the platform may apply:
- Charges related to extended stops requested during a trip
- Time-based adjustments if a driver is required to wait beyond a short grace period
All pricing is displayed to the rider within the application before confirmation. Lumo does not support fare negotiation outside the platform.
B.Digital Payments & Trip Records
Lumo is a cashless-first platform designed for secure and transparent transactions.
- Payments are processed electronically through the app
- A trip summary is automatically issued to the rider upon completion
- Drivers must ensure trips are properly started and ended within the system to maintain accurate records
C.Use of the Platform
To maintain safety, accountability, and service quality:
- All ride arrangements must occur within the Lumo platform
- Drivers and riders are not permitted to arrange trips privately using personal contact details
- Any attempt to bypass the platform may result in account suspension
D.Safety & Conduct Expectations
Lumo prioritizes a respectful and safe experience for everyone.
Drivers are expected to:
- Operate their vehicle responsibly and follow all applicable laws
- Treat all passengers with professionalism and courtesy
- Maintain a clean and appropriate environment inside the vehicle
Riders are expected to behave respectfully and follow basic safety standards during trips.
E.Property Left in Vehicles
If personal belongings are left behind:
- The driver should notify Lumo through the app
- Lumo may assist in reconnecting the rider and driver
- If recovery is not possible, items should be handled in accordance with local guidelines or turned over to appropriate authorities
F.Inclusive & Accessible Service
Lumo is committed to providing transportation access to all individuals, including those with disabilities.
Drivers using the platform are expected to:
- Comply with accessibility legislation in Ontario
- Accommodate mobility needs where reasonably possible
- Accept service animals as required by law
G.Trip Acceptance & Cancellation
Drivers maintain the right to decline or discontinue a trip in situations involving:
- Safety concerns
- Inappropriate or unlawful behavior
- Conditions that prevent completion of the trip
These decisions must be based on legitimate and reasonable grounds.
H.Driver Onboarding Requirements
To access the Lumo platform as a driver, individuals must meet eligibility criteria, including:
- Holding a valid driver's licence issued in Ontario
- Submitting required documentation for identity, vehicle registration, and insurance
- Successfully completing background and driving history screenings
Additional requirements may apply depending on local regulations.
I.Vehicle Expectations
Vehicles used on the platform must meet general safety and quality standards:
- Maintained in good working condition
- Clean and suitable for passenger transport
- Equipped with functioning safety features, including seatbelts
Lumo reserves the right to remove vehicles that do not meet these expectations.
J.Insurance & Legal Compliance
Drivers are responsible for maintaining appropriate insurance coverage that permits rideshare activity, in accordance with Ontario laws. Lumo operates in alignment with applicable municipal and provincial regulations governing rideshare services. Information may be shared with regulatory authorities when legally required.
K.Updates to Platform Guidelines
Lumo may revise these guidelines as the platform evolves or as required by law. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of any updates.
